  • One of the worst books I have ever read

    Like I said, this is one of the worst books I have ever read. If you don’t like Lord of the Flies, you won’t like this one. The story goes nowhere, the Finches live in Maycomb where NOTHING happens, and they spend the whole book trying to get Boo Radley to come out of the house because supposedly he “died” in a fire a long time ago. I don’t even understand how books like these get ANY type of award. And kids are reading this in the schools? Why don’t they just let them read their own book and write a book report on that.

  • Why did I wait so long?

    I don't know how in the world I missed reading this book when I was younger. I guess like a lot of kids in Middle School and High School I was more interested in other things like sports and friends and goofing off than reading. Every time I'd need to do a book report I'd borrow Cliff's notes and well...skip the book. A trivia question made me take up interest in Harper Lee and I decided to go back and read this book. It's no wonder it's a classic and that Harper Lee won the Pulitzer Prize. I could barely put it down and spent most of my time reading it. It took me about less than a week and I enjoyed every second of it. I'm sure I can't add anything to all of the 50 plus years worth of praise written about this book so I'll just say that I wish I had read it when I was supposed to some 35 years ago.
